... unreal, sun is fierce and not a breath of wind. Afternoons on the balcony are the order of the day, listening to all the birds shouting at each other and arguing over bread dropped on the floor at the cafe by the lake.
Only downside is having to wait until 7 till the restaurants open. Not easy for two gluttons like us. Had a rubbish meal first night too which is enough to put us in a bad mood for about a week. Italy almost done. ...

This is a simple hotel, with simple rooms, with a simple breakfast, that will do job.
If you want a pool, a breakfast with 3 miles and a runaway to put the car...this is not what you are looking for.

... the view across the lake and down to Varenna is amazing. My room has windows which look out straight across the lake....amazing. Only a handful decided to do the last walk of the day to a cascade. More steps....groan but the narrow path was a lovely walk. The other downside to the hotel is all the restaurants are back in town so it is downhill to dinner before having to climb back up the hill to bed. All these steps and hills should have me superfit by my return ...

We caught the train from Milan to Lake Como and then caught a bus to our hotel that took a around the Lake. We were on the bus and suddenly it turned around a corner to reveal the Lake in all it's glory! It was a really amazing moment accompanied by an audible gasp from each of us on board.
