... find ourselves ascending the mountains north of Bassano, on some very windy but well maintained roads. The number of cyclists heading up the mountains is amazing, particularly the fact that many appear to be in their 50s and 60s, despite many of the inclines being 10% or more. We keep a steady pace as we negotiate the roads, given the combination of being unfamiliar and driving on the opposite side of the road, and we pull aside several times ...

We return to Rubbio and visit the former Brunello home, which we've seen in many photos and now see in real life. The view from the well across the road is amazing, and the house is now used by the current owners for holidays. We leave Mirella here, and make our way back to the hotel for some rest ...

Laura & I walked back past the Il Sacrario Militare Di Asiago
monument and discovered there is a 2 km track though the farmland that comes
out in Rendola right next to where we are staying. We had fun playing with the filters on

... I explored the Asiago streets
– it was deserted as the town closes down for the long lunch break. We looked
at the ice skating rink and local “Tree Adventures’ type playground. We spied
a Gelato shop, but had to wait until 2.30 to get our daily fix – Lampone (raspberry) and double chocolate for me.
