Friday, we had class, our first with Professor Francioni. Four hours of it, and we had been told the day before not to worry about the reading . . .so it was four hours of lecture, pretty much. ... that Michael had booked for us: two bedrooms with a kitchen and bath with all the comforts of home (including a washer and dryer, which we used during the afternoon). The owners had the ability to divide the property into 25 rooms, but instead chose to turn it into only 8 apartments so that people could really live the Tuscan lifestyle while they were visiting Siena. Traveling days were exhausting for us and we needed some down time so after arriving at Il Canto del Sole B&B, we sat out by the pool for an hour, put our laundry to wash, and took a nap. ... the mall. We found a second Sushi restaurant (Susy Sushi) that did not require crowd control and took a chance. It was just like Sushi in the US. We were happy and proceeded to find a sporting goods store where Susan found a coat that almost met her fashion standards. Before heading back to the Country B&B we stopped in the grocery store in the mall to pick up some shampoo.

... mates interpreted the speeches for us, which was about pride and winning and the best jockey and the best horse, and all that. We estimate our dinner had 800 - 1000 people.
So then Pirate Stefano and Goldy were at the last table to leave, walked around the city again, and finally managed to drag Pirate Stefano home for a well earned sleep before the race the next night.
