So, we had planned to go to Etnaland today, home of water slides and rides, which the girls had been counting down the sleeps for, bit some bad behaviour put paid to that, I'm afraid!
Instead, we opted for a more low key day and headed to the beach at Fiumefreddo, about 8km down the road. The beach itself was quite rocky, and the water really cold, but we had a nice time ...
On Tuesday, we decided to explore the villages surrounding Mount Etna (locals pronounce it Et-uh-na) - Castiglione di Sicilia and Bronte, famous for its pistachios.
We parked at the bottom of the town and started wending our way upward on the cobbled streets amid groans and wails of hunger, boredom, thirst, and needing to wee...... We met a kind (clever?) shopkeeper who told us about the trinacria, the symbol for (and early name for) Sicily, comprising ...
We arrived, or tried valiantly to, at around 3pm between Piedmont Etneo and Linguaglossa, but couldn't find the agriturismo, despite counting the requisite railway crossings before the turn-off! We had to wait for the owners in the parking lot of a nearby supermarket. Maria came to fetch us and within minutes we arrived in Etna Mare.

Seeing that it is summer in America and Europe, I cant brag to you about the beautiful sunny warm weather, but I can say that the location was one of the most beautiful places that I have seen. Both from the top of the mountain in Taormina to the beach in Nexos. To God be the glory for creating such a beautiful world! Next stop: Switzerland!
