    ... close ,it was then off to Ascoli Piceno to spend the night in an ex-convent !!! Ascoli Piceno's history dates back to Sabine tribemen in the 9th century. It's heavy on history and food , proudly being the birthplace of a former Pope (Paul III) .The local food delicacy is Olive all'ascolana - veal-stuffed fried olives. Pretty steep on calories and deep fried , we were a bit reluctant , however ...Mama Mia ..they were delicious. We also had the Tartufo- Truffle ...

    ... coffee in the village of Montegallo, and lunch in Montemanaco after a stiff 4km climb from the valley below. Then we descend through the beautiful village of Montefortino, arriving finally at Amandola, the towering arc of the Sibillini Mountains a constant presence.     Today we ventured further afield to visit Ascoli Piceno, and explore the old town. We took the little tourist train to get the most out of the visit, which started from the main square - where a lot of the beautiful buildings are built in travertine marble.     ... So the comedy was the policeman speaking Italian to the drunk, the drunk speaking Spanish to Ricky and Ricky speaking English to Lucy. Rita knows more French than English and Noah has been taking French in school. So, at one point we had Alfio saying something in Italian, Rita saying it in French, then Noah giving the translation. Another highlight was receiving a copy of a letter that Guiseppe had written in the 1940s ...

    ... So, there Noah and I sat -- no books, looking around, ... Not much else. While Lisa and Soph looked at home, finding scriptures and reading their WTs. It's a good thing Noah and I both are so relaxed when we are out of out element! The brothers and sisters were so warm and kind to us. One brother spoke a little English and helped us along. We gathered several email addresses to contact in the future. Such an upbuilding experience. Tomorrow-- a family ...
