    ... up into the mountains. Everyone fired up! We hopped off the cable car - glanced around and decided we just had to have a group photo - it was that beautiful! We haven't had much in the way of blue skies and so we needed to take full advantage! And then we headed off on the path - up and down - gentle walking! Stopped for espresso at a little restaurant - and then headed off again. Taking lots of pictures, of course! :-). ...

    ... prove that we were actually there! :-). Barbara had already reached the other side and wasn't so interested in heading back over the moving water - until I informed her that she wouldn't get credit for this hike if she wasn't in the group picture! ;-). Dave dropped his camera in amongst the rocks briefly - but recovered it quickly - and then - the photos were history! We do have fun - this group!

    Weather sunny, very warm. Left Salzburg 10am, had a beautiful drive with colourful scenery to the toll gate for the Grossglockner Alpenhochstrasse.     ... charm to it. The people running it are absolutely amazing too. They do everything they can't o make you feel welcome and at home. Only one of the people in Jorge accommodation speaks English and as a result I have been pulling out the German. I can tell you now, my German is horribly basic! Haha but (to give myself credit) it is really hard to speak German when in Italy and everyone else is speaking Italian. ...

    ... hike was up and down and would take about three hours. We could have lunch at the Refugio and refuel. Then - we could wait until 4:00 and take a bus back to our hotel or walk another two hours or so back down to the valley. Not likely to wait until 4 o'clock!
