... opulence now). Food fantastic as they prepared a late lunch on our arrival Saturday.
Sunday saw us leave Trento following city exploration and head west to Valle Felicita/Monte Grappa - again - as base for Venice. Passing Lago Calazzona which was picturesque we travelled through myriad of tunnels again to arrive in our favourite little town for another 2 nights stay with Sebastiano and ...

... back for the hair treatment. The bad thing about the hairdresser only speaking German is that I had to remain most of the time as translator, there are only so many magazine you can look at. Anyway four hours later the magic was done, I was expecting a horrific bill of over €200 but it was only 90 a bargain. Great dinner then to bed. 30.10.14 Up early packed the bags and off on our trip to Cortona in Tuscany, no avoiding the Autostrada today, ...

      Desanzano & Sirmione

      Without such a rush
today and the weather being a bit wet, we walked back to the ferry
jetty to catch a boat to Desanzano to the west and on the southern
shore. This was another larger town with a marina again. The
weather just was not inviting today and put a dampener on our walk
around the town. We enjoyed a coffee in a pedestrianised street but
decided not to wait for a later ferry but to return to Sirmione on
      the ...

      ... it was a wonderfully
attractive place, soon confirmed as we walked into the cobbled
streets border with cafés and shops. We spotted the ferry berth and
the approaching 1960s hydrofoil, straight out of a James Bond film.
We suddenly realised that we could make it after all and dashed to
the ticket office to get our hop-on hop-off all day tickets. The
boat paused briefly as we boarded and took off on a two hour trip to
the top of the lake. The waves rolling down ...

      Four Lakes

We had opted for a very
scenic tour of a number of lakes instead of the short motorway route.
Our first stop was the quiet Lake Maggiore. The initial impression
was that the lake must be much quieter than the neighbours. We
enjoyed a stroll along the waterfront and stopped for a glass of coke
in a pavement café. We left the lake very glad that we had chosen to
visit some other lakes along the way to Garda and this decision would
      be ...
