... we had packed for such emergencies, half an hour later we were enjoying our tea, however as the hob wasn't working and it is also our main heater with it's blower lid, we had to put the oven on to keep warm, which by the way works really well. By the time we had washed up it was quite late, just time for a DVD before bed, it's very cold out do we set the oven timer to come on at 3.00am for a couple if hours before we get ...

Trento is a surprise package. A city of approx 120 000 based on education and finance this city is located on the river Adige, a major trading route with Europe in earlier time, and completely surrounded by snow covered mountains. Spectacular.

... When it turned up, it was a nearly new catamaran
almost as quick as the fast cat from the day before. Arriving back
in Sirmione, the weather soon began to brighten up and it turned into
a lovely day again. We took our time looking in the shops and
stopping for a couple of beers in a tiny bar. Jayne bought me a
magnificent Fossil watch in one of the shops. We walked from one end
of the town and back again, taking in ...

    ... scenery
passing by, steep sided rocky tree covered hills as the lake tapered
even more. Half an hour later, we arrived at our final port – Riva
del Garda. This town was substantially bigger but only marginally
less pretty as a result. It was the first that we had visited with a
proper marina, full of sizeable yachts. The water was freezing,
being fed from a tributary lake higher up in the mountains to the
west. Having seen as much as we wished, we sat near ...

    ... turned out
to be the son of the owner. As our meal concluded, he brought out
two glasses of Mirto. To his surprise, we told we knew what were
being offered and our appreciation of it. He promptly withdrew the
glasses and disappeared. A few minutes later, he returned with
another offering, this time home made by one of their chefs. It was
clearer, lighter in colour but wonderfully smooth and tasty. It
    capped a lovely evening out.
