... in. He was happy I was suitably awe struck by the Colloseum as we passed. It was almost 2am by the time I got to the hostel. I tried to be discrete, but the other guy in the room had locked the door so in the end I had to keep knocking until he woke up. I found myself awake at 7.30 and decided to get up, waking him again as I clanked down the bunk later and bounced off a wardrobe.

... however that our original route plan had us visiting Rome later in October, a much more sensible time of year, as it's still very hot! Luckily there are water fountains at every turn so we constantly hydrated ourselves, as well as standing underneath them to cool off!

  • Afterwards, we returned to the Campo via Piazza Navona, and got some great evening shots of the Fountain of the Four Rivers (probably another favorite thing here of mine). It was pretty crowded in the Piazza because there were also many art vendors in the middle right near the fountain.

    ... and immediately went to sleep. This morning we got up late and decided to go to the olive fields again. We stopped for a quick cappuccino again and then off to pick olives. We were met by the two horses. We decided to have a quick snack of salted bread, salami, sausage, cheese, olives, chocolate and Lambrusco before we started.

    ... a natural sanctuary far from the bustle outside (and within) the walls of the Vatican. Entering one of the main buildings of the museum we were then treated to more sculptures which included literally thousands of statues from Antiquity (in varying degrees of condition), Renaissance marbles (including Lacoön) and fragile Renaissance tapestries that were originally hung in the Sistine Chapel before relocation to the Museum.
