Ok so today was the day off from the holiday. Lisa is still fighting a cold and we had planned to take it easy. I started my holiday book, caught up on Hell on Wheels a great American drama about building the railways from the east to the west. Very gritty but a good story. I decided to talk a walk locally as behind the apartment is a UNESCO world …

... unreal, sun is fierce and not a breath of wind. Afternoons on the balcony are the order of the day, listening to all the birds shouting at each other and arguing over bread dropped on the floor at the cafe by the lake.

We were slightly frustrated at the continuance of rain. At one point we just sat underneath ...

... 4 mountain passes. At the top of the first one Paso Falzarego, the altitude was 2100m, temperature 2C and it was snowing quite heavily. The road had been salted which was a relief as we don’t have winter tyres. We stopped at the top of the pass and had a superb cappuccino in a cosy wooden restaurant.

Paso Pordoi was the final one. It has 33 hairpin bends on the up side and 27 on the descent to Carnazei.

... next morning we woke up around 8.30 and headed into town shortly after for some coffee and a bit of breakfast. Feeling lazy, we parked ourselves on the (rocky) beach for a few hours to catch some rays, enjoy the lake, and play some cards. Again. We decided to rent a kayak mid day, so that spiced things up. That's basically how the whole day went - and I'm not even ashamed.
Today we were supposed to head to Lucerne, a ...
