      ... the castle, where I stop for coffee. It's very steep and my legs are feeling it. I carry on and eventually come out at tiny little lakeside town. It's a beautiful (though a bit difficult) walk with magnificent views of the lake from up high. More photos. Back down lakeside, I head back towards Varenna.       I'm on the move again today. Metro to Termini train station and fast train to Milan at 11am. Takes 3 hours. Speeds of around 248 kms an hour. My ears keep popping when we go through the tunnels. The terrain is very similar to down south. Rolling hills etc., with flat plains in between. I can't see so many olive trees though and there's a lot more grape vines. It still all looks very beautiful. Can't say for sure but the soil looks a lot more sandier than ...

      ... adrenaline flowing. Thank goodness the riding has been pretty flat. Oh, except for the bit of off-roading we did from Breschia to Sirmione on a bike path that we misplaced for a bit! Sirmione is on the tiny peninsula that juts out into Lake Garda. Once we found our way over the hills and down to the lake, the riding was through small summer towns that must be crazy during the height of the season. We are just at the end of the season and many of the hotels ...

      ... panhandlers tied a piece of string around our wrists and wanted money for Africa, but I told them that I already blessed the rains down in Africa. Love Toto.

      We stayed at Sophia's Hostel which would have been a great experience if their AC hadn't broke down that week. Sleeping was pretty miserable, sweating was inevitable. It was €23 per night. The owner was a real nice guy though. Off to Florence ...
