... The main strip has more restaurants, as well as bars and it is just a really pretty town and lay out with good views. We had an AMAZING meal here, Louis had a seafood spagetti and I had grilled octopus. We had some delicious wine, followed by cocktails and a scotch - we had to waste time through the rain somehow! ... made it to Monterossa but we were feeling absolutely washed out (sea sick).

Lunch would help with the nausea feeling so headed up the street to find somthing to settle our stomachs. We had seen people eating seafood that looked different so took advantage of the local fresh seafood and ordered. It was fine and helped settle the stomach along with a Coke. Couldn't face alcohol at this stage!

Unfortunately, the path to the next two towns, Marona and Riomaggiore, was closed by several landslides (which are not infrequent here), so we hiked the 365 steps down to the train station and took the train to Riomaggiore. ... we travelled up the coast until we reached Porto Venere. We had hoped to travel out to a Cinque Terre village by ferry, but soon learned that the sea was to rough to take the boat.
After a café we decided to take a walk up to the church, which was cantilevered out by the ocean. First we walked through a hole in the castle wall and out over the rocks to look at the sea as it pounded the shoreline. We then explored the church and walked up onto the roof once again ...
