      ... the Cinque Terre villages). We are right on a SANDY beach and it is certainly a lot quieter than where Lee and I had stayed before at Monterosso. Our hotel has a balcony that looks directly over the beach - only if you are standing. The balcony has solid walls, so if you are sitting you can't see the gorgeous view -ha ha! Our concierge recommended a beautiful Italian restaurant to eat - best vegetarian ravioli I have tasted - vegetables and nuts! We are eating too ...

      ... up to the room. It has the most outstanding views looking back across the water. The owner offered to take us back when we were ready.

      It has been raining for most of the day, first rain since we started our holiday, so we to take advantage when the rain did stop to look around Portovenere. We enjoyed a quick bite to eat and soaked up our awesome surroundings before having a look at a beautiful medieval ...

      ... to Seabourn square for a hot drink and final Backgammon challenge. Peter was feeling tired so we didn’t get to finish the set.       So that was an exciting ordeal. The ticket machine did not work. So I went looking for another place to buy a ticket.       ... was 2 adults in the front, 3 adults in the back with a child on each lap and then Dan and I in the boot! We put Joey (5 years old) on “Police Watch” but he soon took advantage of his position and started shouting “POLICE” every 2 minutes. We did see them a couple of times but managed to hide quickly and avoid prosecution during the 45 minute drive, much to everyone's relief!
