      ... to the best food towns in Italy and sample food all morning. Win. First, we went to the cheese factory where they make the real and original parmigiano reggiano. If it's not made there, it can only be called "Parmesan" cheese and that's totally not the same. I was so tired once we got there, I had to wake up at 4:30AM in order to make it onto the bus on time omg. So I learned how the cheese was made, smelled lots ...

      ... Very pleasant in the sunshine, and loads of dogs for Joy to photograph - see her separate entry on the dogs of Parma!!

      After lunch, Joy went back to the Duomo (and photos of dogs!) while Michael simply strolled around. Very relaxing.       ... once and turned around as I had seen a café just as I arrived. It was a good decision!


      I had the most amazing panini ever. The girl at the bar didn't speak much English so I just pointed to a big piece of dried ham and asked for a beer. And 10 minutes later the most amazing sandwich arrived. It was a Ferrari Sandwich compared to cheese on toast. And the girl serving looked like Michael Corleone's Italian wife - before she blew up.

      ... they have shuttered this since my Dad's cugino passed away. The town still houses a number Ferrantini, and this is who we were going to meet.
