      ... the shower cap, on come the clothes and off I go back to the comfort and warmth of Fifi. Thank goodness Fifi comes with a shower, I thought hang it, I will cook dinner first so Brendan had his shower.       It was raining today and really cold so we took in the local museum full of Roman antiquities found in recent local excavations, it was small but still astounding that it was over 2000 years ago and they were so civilised.       ... local black truffles, oil and parmesan and then pappardelle with fresh ricotta, ham and pecorino, for dessert we had semi freddo and apple cake, we were offered a meat course but declined! The host was generous and gave us a dessert wine and biscuits, all too much but we had a fabulous local Montepulciano red from nearby Prezza.       ... but we were blessed with sunny weather. Sulmona, south from L'Aquila, is in a valley surrounded by National Parks with hiking in summer and skiing in winter so shares some similarities with Bright in Victoria. Plenty of shops and restaurants so we chose one for a delicous dinner with a groaning antipasti table, papardelle of hare sauce, ox tongue, a delicate tiramisu and, of course, the local wine Montepulciano D'Abruzzo.
