Twice over Stelvio in one day

... down the West side of Stelvio to the historic town of Bornio and then head over the wonderful Gavia pass and then just make my way from there.

Well as you will see things as usual on this trip did not work out.

I packed my boxes and went outside into the wonderful fresh air to load up the bike. It did not feel too cold but my poor bike was covered in ice and on looking at the temp gauge it was indicating the temp was a fresh little -2 Celsius.

... scenery, paid the €24 and went to the top car park, the little Peugeot nearly blew a valve. Walked around up top, but being on slippery ice next to steep slopes is not my idea of fun, we looked around and went into the lovely town of Misurina and had lunch. ... to a castle. The food and service were wonderful and despite being stuffed from 3 weeks of traveling and eating, we managed to force down another great meal.

We are safely home and back on our lake here in Cleveland. Travel always changes one, though, and we feel changed by this trip. We loved the beauty of Lucca and Bologna -- I think we will always feel that Lucca could be our home and Bologna ...

pleasant driving. This is a main north-south arterial route.


Stopped at Camping Corones. Luxurious site, with heated
sanitary facilities and a heated outdoor pool, but somehow we did not like it.
Full of Germans and very “ordered” parking.
