    ... approached at a set of traffic lights by some people wanting to wash windows - no amount of saying no or flicking on the windscreen wipers seemed to deter them. As soon as the lights turned green we shot out of there - and although Louise was ****** at the intrusion she seemed to appreciate the fact that they had actually cleaned most of the front window!

    ... long and largely incomprehensible story in Italian and broken English about a boat he was on that went to Melbourne. He seemed to like talking to me more because I could knew some Italian and he persisted to talk to me even when the others had moved away, scared by the strangeness of the encounter. Finally I managed to grasp his hand in a solid farewell gesture and assert that we must leave. He hoped to see us again...we hoped not. At least I got to practise some Italian! ...

    We had a wonderful flight with Delta! Kelly and I had our own row and were served dinner, snacks, breakfast & even some cheap vino while spending the hours watching free movies on our personal TVs and snoozing with complimentary eye pillows and ear plugs.     I thought breakfast was being given at 7.30 so I got up at 7 (somewhat reluctantly you understand) but nothing happened at 7.30 at all. Don't know if the message got a bit mixed up in the "translation" or not. Bottom line is I left at 8 with a glass of water in me to last until the first village after 3 hours walking.

    ... all. English speaking news channels, a hot bath, a big bed and room service capped off a great end to our time in Italy. Today we travel to Paris on EasyJet.
