With perfect weather(warmer than usual temperatures) the Piazza del Duomo is filled with people, kids, and pigeons fluttering by. Even with the piazza brimming with people, the Cathedral is center ...

This is a simple hotel, with simple rooms, with a simple breakfast, that will do job.

Next stop Montrieux then Sion, still vineyards terraced up the hillsides, snow capped peaks in the background. Next stop Brig, train filling up now along the way. Next ...

... Making our way back via waterbus, we ventured out to tea sampling the local seafood, yummy! Then a Gondolier ride as the sun was going down to finish off was nice and quiet. These guys charge like wounded bulls, but their licence fees are astronomical! Back to the hotel after a further wander and off to bed! Last train trip tomorrow to Milan, the last stop in Europe before we start on our way home. Until ...

        Day 40 - Vercelli to Mortara - 23 miles

I thought breakfast was being given at 7.30 so I got up at 7 (somewhat reluctantly you understand) but nothing happened at 7.30 at all. Don't know if the message got a bit mixed up in the "translation" or not. Bottom line is I left at 8 with a glass of water in me to last until the first village after 3 hours walking.

Noticed a mosquito having a go at my leg this morning. They are meant to be a nuisance amongst the ...
