... haut, on avait une tres belle vue sur toute la ville! Ensuite ca ete la visite de quelque eglises, puis le theatre romain de l'autre cote de la riviere. finalement, on a vue un tres beau pont attacher a un chateau en bordure de la riviere.

nous avons eu le temps de prendre quelques coupes de vin local, accompagne d'excellent bruchetta avant de prendre le train pour milan.

We figured we only needed to spend 1 night in Verona as there wasn't a lot to do, plus the lack of any hostels meant we had to stay in a hotel (La Magnolia). We were right.
Got to Verona from Venice early afternoon and wandered around town. The Arena was awesome. So huge and overwhelming inside ...

... of undying love to each other. Makes for quite a sight really. There were nice markets there and a sort of mini colosseum which is still used today for concerts.

There was also a statue of Juliet which is meant to bring you good luck if you rub her right breast. Her right breast is very polished!

Jumped back on the coach to the next stop!

... own special charm, and lured me in!! Now of course, nothing that had to do with my love for this town...we did of course visit the famous balcony of Juliet, and Romeo's house, and Juliet's tomb. (Even though there is no physical evidence of people by those names ever existing...)


So we left the place of love behind and drove on up into Germany...

... across the square and to enter the cathedral. It was crazy with people walking through the water (getting wet), people pushing in and police actually trying to get some order. We decided to get out of that area quickly as everything was overpriced. We headed towards the Rialto Bridge and came across toilets which cost 1.50 Euros each person which apparently is the going rate. So for 4 of us, it cost $12 AUD just for us to go to ...

... painting in them were common. I’m not really into Italian art, but there were a couple of Bellini’s paintings which were a standout. The castle itself was impressive, including the bridge that crossed the river from the castle. After we left the castle, we searched for a kid’s playground that we read about, plus Tara wanted to go to the toilet so we thought there would be one there. It was still raining so we got a taxi to the train station as we were heading to Verona in Italy. A funny thing happened at the station- we were in the supermarket there when the security thing beeped as someone went out of the shop- we looked and it was a nun leaving the shop- the shoppers all were smiling. As the trained climbed across Brenner Pass, the rain had turn to snow but as we got into Italy the weather cleared ...

... ants nest. not the best pitch we have ever had. We spend the first day lounging by the lake, this part of the lake is dirty and nothing like the romantic picturesque images we were looking forward to. nevertheless it was relaxing the food was good and the beer was cold.
what more could I ask for?
a pitch in the shade away from the ants and the children, too much to ask?

... out some paddle boats which was good fun.
Everyone had a great time at the wedding, weather was brilliant. John was so hungry he even ate a flower, plate decoration and Orla tried to steal the show with her drunken antics.
On our last day in Malcesine we went to the top of a really big hill in a cable car, seen some cows and snow, played some crazy golf at a really late hour and had a few drinks with our friends, the last for a while.
