Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Artorius Rome

    Piccolo hotel di altissimo livello

    from

    from

    from

    First class small hotel

    from

small hotel, immaculately clean, beautifully furnished, excellent location and within short walking distance of trevi, colisseum spanish steps, shopping etc. staff very friendly and couldnt be more

    any age group

    Erstklassiges, kleines Hotel

    from

Lovely New Hotel - Great Location

    from

Lovely new hotel in my favourite area of Rome. As a regular visitor to the city fro work reasons, I always choose Monti as my location of choice because it is simply the best area in Rome. The Artorius is a fantastic addition to the neighbourhood and fits in fantastically with everything else as is cosmopolitan, stylish and charming. Lovely little courtyard for breakfast and in the ideal location next to Via Nazionale, a cracking little spot to start from no matter what you are in Rome to do. Would recommend to all!

    Fantastico hotel nuovo, posizione eccezionale

    from

    from

Reizendes, neues Hotel in meiner Lieblingsgegend in Rom.

    Tolles, kleines Hotel

    from

    Superb small hotel

    from

We stayed 3 nights mid September 2007. Great location close to the Colisseum and Forum, near metro and buses, restaurants, shops. Via del Boschetto - typical Roman side street; narrow, cobbled. Artorius is a superb small hotel. Reception area and hallways; cool and tasteful with lovely stained glass. Room was quiet, very clean and well decorated with a great bathroom - a pleasure to come back to after a days walking around a fantastic city! Air-conditioning, mini bar etc. Staff were helpful and pleasant and breakfast in the open shaded courtyard was lovely - great cappuccino!

Very pleased with all aspects of Hotel Artorius and if/when I return to Rome I will definitely use this hotel again.

    Losing 6 hours = exhaustion

... a little overwhelmed with not knowing barely any Italian, and chided myself internally for not learning more before we traveled. It was kind of embarrassing. I felt like the ignorant American that's always portrayed in the media, barging in on other countries and cultures and expecting everyone to still know English and OUR customs.

Traveling internationally like this is good, even though ...

... opera ends with her in tears and Christmas Carol’s being sung. Although it is somewhat of a dark Opera, it was such a beautiful one to see. We left the theater around 11:30 and headed home. Wiped out, we all got in the car and passed out! Once we were home we decided to get in bed because none of us could keep our eyes open any longer. In our pajamas and done brushing our teeth, we were all in bed no later than 1:00am. We all woke up around 11:30 to breakfast ...

... heading for the front door when the theatre manager stopped us and told us the show was about to start again. Seems there are 3 acts in this opera - not 2. We had wondered why the Count (heroine) hadn't won the girl (Rosina) in the end! So back we went for another 40 minutes of Italian opera. It was lots of fun and a unique outing. As a bonus, the theatre served free pasta during the intermission - maybe in an attempt to get you to buy more drinks. All ...

... write the blog before heading out for dinner about 9.30pm on our last night in Rome. We went to a restaurant across the road and enjoyed a good meal and drinks for 45 euro. Tomorrow we take a 10am train for 1 1/2 hours to go to Florence. Some more unrelated observations: There is a strong police/military presence at every major tourist spot. They are static ie don't patrol on foot but stand around in groups near their vehicles. They come in various forms, uniforms, cars ...

... early to avoid line ups and congested streets. We ventured along to Palazzo Navona and the Fountain of the Four Rivers, an impressive fountain with statues of sea gods and various objects and animals (serpents, birds, etc.) symbolic of the church and the elite Pamphili family who financed this fountain.

We continued on to see the elaborate marble Column of Marcus Aurelius, which was constructed in 180 AD. Adjacent to the Italian parliament buildings, ...
