Leaving Milano, we started the day with Bergamo which is an ancient town about 40 km east of Milan we've been hearing a lot about. I have to admit that it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Maybe it's just me setting my expectation too high.
The old town (citta alta) is up on the hill and we had to take ...

... right on the lake, it had gorgeous views of the Alps as well. We walked along the water and grabbed some lunch. It was very nice. We returned to Bergamo, walked around a little longer and went back to the hostel to sleep.

It's honestly stunning, the crown jewel of Milan.   The inside however wasn't as nearly good as ...

Milano - the Melbourne of Italy I have been missing home a bit and this city definitely has a vibe. Plenty of ostentatious designer shops but also a more hip and grungy side especially in Navigli where we stayed. Me like ! Just like Melbourne the airport is a long was from the city ( but you have great views of snow capped alps in the distance) and so a cab it was. Our hotel the Art Hotel Navigli was very nice and we had a 2 bedroom suite which was great ( with supermarket opposite). ...

... tall for the back of it.. and I rode on the back of her Alessandro's motorbike (her boyfriend). It was awesome to race through the streets of Milan on scooter's/motorbikes!

We got to her friends place to find 5 of them in fine form thanks to some very nice tasting italian red wine.. playing an impossible to follow take on the card game- UNO. They all rattled away in italian.. and Simon and I gave in just smiling and nodding whenever someone ...
