WE spent an enjoyable time wandering about the cathedral. Its big, beautiful, cool inside, and has some amazing stained glass windows. There were pews to sit on and pray, and some people were praying on their knees, most people however were using this time as free sit down space in a cool shady place (it was 34 degrees outside). Sunday, 17 May - Around Bellagio The next day we ran/walked (respectively...if you don't know who runs and who cannot you probably shouldn't be on this email list) early, then had a pretty wonderful breakfast as part of our B&B arrangement. At mid-morning we took a ferry across the lake to Menaggio. It was market day - cheeses, meats, fruits, flowers, honey and jams and nuts - and sunny and bustling. ...

... Villabassa (the German and Italian name for the town we're in this evening) our non-existent German. I (Karen) find it a positive - if awkward- challenge to be pushed out of my comfort zone each time I try to communicate with folks we meet or from whom we need something, and always a huge relief as soon as the communicating begins. Without exception, each person we've met, regardless of his/her English, has been helpful, friendly and ...
