    ... valleys ...rocky mountains similar to the Swartberg......Villages are high up ... Gypsy villages low down....Messy like squatter camps... The marble quarries are amazing...the countryside is flattening out, we pass groves of olive trees and vineyards as well as prickly pears galore on the roadside ... Tom is salivating!     ... typical Italian dinner last night... Prosciutto and melon, fried zucchini flowers in batter, salami and sausage (not unlike freshly dried wors),....then pasta, individually rolled, with bolognaise sauce,...then beef fillet strips and pork chops with cooked zucchini in rosemary butter and salad....then espresso and grappa and chocolate cake... The wine flowed and we rolled into bed.!!!!Day 2... Most of the fields have ...
