... I known this I would not have wasted 30€ by missing the check-in for my bus in Paris. I was under the impression you just show up and get on the bus. However, on my ticket it stated you had to show up at least 30 minutes prior to check-in. We will skip the conversation on how unnecessary I think this is. When I walked up to the counter at 8:25am for my 8:30am bus a not so lovely Parisian lady, can I take back the nice stuff I said earlier, informed me I was ...

One of the highlights of the trip so far was our morning ballooning with Chris and Claire from "Ballooning in Tuscany". We had an early start (5am) to be down at the launch field for 5.40am and then we took off at about 6.30-6.45am on a beautifully sunny morning with fantastic views over the Tuscan countryside - the pictures hopefully do it more justice than any description I can ...

... invigorated we want to check the David queue once more, just in case...YES! Much reduced, so we join queue, which feels like a torture for the tourists. Blazing sunshine..the sweat just drips off you & can't believe nobody faints! However after 45 mins we're in. Well worth returning too. To think David is 500 yrs old is astonishing...he is also so HUGE!

back to the farmhouse around 8 pm...lie-in tomorrow methinks...

Wednesday and Thursday was more class, ad more trying new places to eat.

But Friday was out first field trip! We met at 845, but the bus was late and didn't get there until 9 or so. We spent about an hour getting to a small town that I don't know the name of, where we stopped for the museum. It contained the artifacts from tombs from around the area, as well as a reconstruction of the most elaborate and well-preserved one.

... the piazza in front of the massive Cathedral with its ornate facade. A gentleman in the town hall across from it struck up a conversation with us and said it took 12 generations of builders to complete the structure. The town had a nice semi urban vibe to it and I noticed it is on the main train line between Florence and Rome. Easy to revisit without a car. :-)
