A Big Day in Panicale....for two reasons!
Firstly, I visited Mara, the ladies hairdresser in the piazza. Thought I wanted regrowth and trim?
Picture shows new Sue back in the piazza enjoying morning coffee. I put it down to "lost in translation", ah, it's Italy!
I must say it was definitely the "quietest" visit to a ladies hairdresser I have ever experienced.
Mara speaks no English ...
... to Volterra for the novel, but to Montepulciano to take pictures of where the scene was actually shot. So:
It was an unbelievably twisting, corkscrew drive up the mountainside to the town of Volterra. This may have contributed to Hollywood selecting the much more approachable town of Montepulciano as the location for the New Moon scenes. Getting all the movie hardware up to Volterra would have been a harrowing ride ...
