... on their tour of the champagne region. Delicious! We had dinner at the hotel restaurant which had tables outside by the lake. The meal was as delicious as the champagne had been. The next morning the weather was changeable. In fact there was an enormous thunderstorm which cracked right above us and sent us jumping in fright it was so loud. The rain came down in buckets but it was amazing to watch the clouds shrouding the mountains and then lifting and later ...

... Everyone walked away happy.

We then caught the ferry that we thought was going to Managgio which is on the opposite side of the lake, but it went back to Bellagio so it was an opportunity for me to change out of my wet shirt and get a jacket, of course this was also the signal required for the rain to stop and the sun to come out. Mennagio was another small quiet village with a restaurant and a gellato shop on each corner and where the Tourist Information ...

... back to the railway station, but we’ve fallen for the place just the same. I think the key is the unassuming way the town just gets on with being, while people like us come and go. The little piazza below our window is the only square in the town so it’s not only the place where people meet, but also a favourite spot for kids to run and do the things kids do.

... the guide provides commentary in Italian for 10 minutes then the condensed English version for 5 minutes. It was very enjoyable none the less. My compensation was having a couple of cold beers sitting out on the balcony watching the world go by and contemplating where we would eat tonight. My feet were saying, why not try the restaurant in the hotel and so we did, not the greatest meal in the world but the view and the atmosphere was unbeatable.
