Porto, asleep by the river.

... who offered for me to come and stay in a nearby city called Povoa de Verzim for a night or two. This was a pretty neat place. It's a summer resort town right on the sea, and in November it's more or less a ghost town. This wasn't a bad thing as it was nice to have a peaceful walk along the ocean. I always like to meet people from CS because they mostly really want to introduce you to their culture. So I was lucky to learn a bit more about the Portuguese ...

Porto is like Lisbon, only sweeter and fortified!

... are. The distilleries were surprisingly accessible, with all of them offering tours of the caves and tastings, for a fee of course. We were only able to visit a couple (Porto seems to close for 2 hours during lunch) before catching our evening flight out, but we are glad to have tried some new and very interesting kinds of port. Thank you Portugal, we will be back to see more.

Interesting City and Miles of Golden Sands

... We arrived safely thanks to these total strangers. He advised us not to take the caravan into Porto.

The next day we went on the bus to Porto and discovered why. The 8 kilometer journey took about an hour as the bus travelled in ever decreasing circles through streets normally impassable to a bus without the use of a horn and the assistance of disgruntled lorry and car drivers who had to backup. On arriving in Porto feeling shaken and stirred we discovered a ...

RAIN at Parque Nacional da Pendeda Geres

We drove through the rain and Jessica (sat nav) took us up into the mountains. When she wanted us to do a sharp hairpin bend that was impossible with the caravan we had to carry on to a dead end in the road. As the rain got heavier we had to unhitch the caravan, turn round and rehitch and retrace our route. Unfortunately we did it very ...

Our meals were : a tuna salad (a can of tuna, unrippened tomatoes and lettuce) and pork (a peice of pork, rice and french fries.) Long story short we were more then enthusiastic to get on the road in the morning to leave Porto behind

... of low clouds and a lot of times they were below us.  Luckily, we never had to drive through them.

On the way we stopped at a hostel for lunch - we expected a casual cafe-type place but it had white tablecloths and a lot of people were from the community.  Kevin got a nice steak and I got pimientos rellenos, which were both delicious.

Once we were done, we decided to stop taking to scenic routes to ensure we could get to the campsite by 7:30 to make dinner.  We ...
