... be a beautifully clean pedestrianised village / town, full of quaint bars and restaurants, surrounded by low traditional white-washed buildings. We swiftly take up residence in a bar called "Tapas Canas Selfbeer", which we learn is the first in Portugal where you can help yourself to the local brew, using a pre-purchased card. (Can't imagine this going unabused in the UK!!) After a couple of rounds, some yummy tapas a Barcelona vs Mallorca (4-2 ...
Sines, Alentejo, Portugal wrklein... shouldn't be allowed to happen again. But the pieces were coming together and so was my connection with Alex. When he asked me what was going on and I told him, he said don't waste you money, stay with me and my family. I felt sure now that he was on the level and agreed.
We went back to his and my word, their place is fantastic, set among cork 'forests', surrounded by rolling hills, chickens, dogs (sooo cute), a cat and goats. He kept on ...
... the nearest hotel was and bought me a coffee. I took some time chatting with him and his daughter. He said he had to go and see a friend and I could go with him and stay over at his. Now, all my instincts told me that he was a nice man, that it would be ok, but my faith in myself suddenly went. Looking back on it and as I described it to my friendly dutch-man when he said: you should have seen your face when I asked you home ...
Cercal, Setúbal, Portugal rowan123... visiting him discovered that the Parisians are not the only ones that can lure Bruce into a pastry shop! We also saw the site where Expo 98 was held and enjoyed a gondola ride above Lisbon's coast. Albert and Maria sat out the Gondola ride. After spending some time with our little bundles of gas they were not willing to ...
Lisbon, Portugal patry... now. The clear skies give us some fabulous views of star constellations at night. Yes - it's some place!
The internet is as unreliable as ever. It's up and down all the time and Norah has christened it 'the internot'!!!
(April) Well another month (how) has passed and we're still here after four months, it makes you wonder is this the real life? We've slogged on, working the (usual) twelve hour days up to Easter and managed to completely refurbish 8 of the 9 rooms ...
Curtam so as imagens.
Cabo Sardão, Portugal, Portugal ikono... The winds were still light NNE 2/3.As our diesel tank was dropping again we topped up with 44 litres of fuel as conditions were good. Mitch was in form again and we had fried egg and bun for lunch. We put out all our sail to see if it would improve our speed. We seem to get an extra half a knot. Night began to cloud over as we were organising the watch rota. Navigation was easy; we could see the lights of Figuiera da ...
Sines to Leixoes,Porto., Portugal cluainfia... and quiet and a warm genuine hospitality usually found in much smaller communities. I don't think our time is finished here just yet. The next chunk of accessible coast lies north of Sagres, and takes the form of a couple of bays just off the small village of Aljezur. Upon reaching a hilly summit you get the choice of two beach roads, one taking you to Arrifana, the other to Monte Clerigo - both of them hotspots for ...
The West Coast and Sines, Portugal scottwoz... considerado um monte de entulho. Foi no século 19 que realmente se iniciou a sua restauração e hoje é um dos símbolos lisboetas. É interessante, no mínimo.
