... to pick up Karin's mother who is coming to stay so I booked lunch for us at the Hermitage in the Col d'Eze which was a good choice as it was a beautiful setting and great food. A bit off the beaten track so a lot less crowded than anything on the coast and with easy parking. Karin and Mark took all the photos so I guess they will be for the next blog. Back to work on Monday but it's a short week again as Friday is a holiday, 15th August. Thank goodness for all these bank ...

We have breakfast on the Terrace that provides us with a great view of Lake Como, the sun is shining, a family of swans are swimming past. The breakfast spread is good, coffee is good, ah Bellagio it is everything we expected. As the shops are not open we decide on a walk around to Punta Spartivento or Point where the Wind divides, or to you the Point of the Peninsular. It provides great views to both sides of Lake Como to Varenna to the East and Managgio to the West.

It's nice to stay somewhere that’s real. Varenna is real.

We chose this place more or less by accident. ... same charm as the Italian lakes so we swiftly continued on to Como.

On arrival it was time to finally don our snazzy rain macs and time for the locals to get their sunglasses out from the glare off them…we like bright colours, what can we say!

We walked to a piazza and had a light lunch while the rain came to a stop and then
strolled around the old town…we do love an old town! We ...

... night we had a few drinks at a small little bar and watched the Roma-Bologna, then went back to the terrace for some wine which was nice. I fell in love with Como because of it's location and beautiful nature that surrounded it, so I am going to rank it #2 on the list of cities I saw on this trip. The next morning (Sunday) we took a bus to Vals. Read my next post to hear about my time at Peter Zumthor's Thermal baths!
