... years ago, a man (or was it a fifty year old man?) decided to help the church and replastered the walls, smothering the ancient decorations. Careful investigation has revealed a little of the art of red and yellow ochre with some blue and black too. But they couldn't or can't tell him off because it was fifty years ago or he is fifty or maybe both.

... the Dordogne Valley, there is over 6 kilometres of paths, gazebos, massive areas of topiary, herb gardens and hedges. Parts of the chateau were open and furnished. Peacocks roamed free, the restaurant had a view of the valley.

... El fietste in Belgie met een elleboogversteviger en later hebben we er ook een voor haar knie gekocht. Drie weken later heeft ze zich als een echte klimmer ontpopt. Ze gaat niet hard maar ze stapt nooit af en komt altijd boven. Ik daarentegen heb ondertussen alle vele kilometers tegen mijn fiets lopen duwen. Volgens Diane lig ik er regelmatig af. Dat is een uitdrukking van deze tijd als het niet meer lukt.
El ligt er nooit af, bravo. Girlpower.

... a ride into Bellac, a medieval town on the river about 10 minutes away. Parked up in the square near the church and had a mooch around the shops. Then walked down to the river which has some lovely medieval stone bridges across it and a viaduct above. We had lunch outside a bar overlooking the river.
