Crete is magical, not that you could easily tell that from the tourist area we found ourselves in. On the other hand, the tour arrangement with the hotel provides us with dinner as well as breakfast, saving us some money. And a 2 for 1 happy hour. The more magical parts are in the small villages away from Iraklio and other larger towns. Still, we've managed to find magical moments. One amazing experience here is the transformation that comes over the town and the people when one of the Euro C...

Today we will wander around the old city with trips to the open air market and the archeological museum.
The ferry and airplane rides seem to affect my (Nancy's) inner ear in a way that on land, everything continues to move. It is annoying and made hiking up and down rocky hillsides a little extra challenging. Hopefully it will quiet down now that there are nop more ferry rides.
... Greek story tellers - the Minoans were highly organized and technologically advanced some 4000 years ago, and well before the Greeks. The palace grounds were bought from the Turks in 1900, by a British archaeologist, Harold Evans, and he spent the next 35 years investigating and restoring (controversially) the ruins. Well done Evans and another yah boo sucks to Lord Elgin.
We went to one of the beach front bars near Leoniki Residence for cocktails. The view at ...

Through a series of unfortunate events, this is the sole remaining picture of our magical day in Crete. In all of my genius I deleted the Crete and Turkey photos by accident and boy was that ever a sad day. Of course the first thing I did after getting home from the cruise was upload the Sbux series to Facebook, so now the Starbucks photo is the only one left of Crete :(

I jumped at the chance, started packing and announced that I was leaving for Greece again. Zoe decided to come with me, hoping to find a job once out there. We flew out on Saturday night and arrived in Heraklion, the capital of Crete at 1.00am on Sunday 4th June. After experiencing the worst flight landing I've ever experienced (some ...
