It was time to head up towards the top western corner to Greece, to visit Corfu. Did you know that Corfu only joined Modern Greece in 1864? We didn’t! ... and fishing boats as well. As we neared Venice we could see the Alps in the distance and there was snow on the summits of some mountains. Venice is located in a lagoon and the locals moved further into the lagoon to escape Attila the Hun. The areas has a series of island however our motel is on the mainland not far from the port to travel to the island of Venice tomorrow.

Our original intention was to follow the coast road around the lagoons but we quickly opted
for the motorway route which would get us to San Marino much quicker and give us far more time to enjoy it.
