Day 26. Athens. Greece

A travel blog entry by laurel.furphy

... We are docked in Piraeus about 20 minutes from the centre of Athens. We are driven into Athens around the coast which is very pretty, but we are on the wrong side of the coach to see it properly. Our guide today is a very short lady with short cropped blonde hair who speaks very good English. We arrive at the large rock, on top of which sits the Acropolis. There are a lot of steps to negotiate and the ground is very uneven. We head upwards with hundreds ...

Germany, Lichtenstein, Switzerland and Venice

... the corner (have to anyways, don't wait in line for them to tell you so) then you can skip the line with your bag ticket. Felt good walking in front of 200 people and not waiting :) Burano was the coolest island by far. We arrived right on 'Siesta time' so the island was very quiet but still lots of tourists etc. Burano is famous for its Lace and all of the stores are full of lace products, it even has its own leaning tower!!

After Burano it was back to Venice to go and see the cathedral at St Marks ...

A slow day in Venice

A travel blog entry by arnies

... these poor lost folk. We have decided the most important principle when trying to find your way around Venice is "Look up." We walked for four and a half hours today, from 10.30am until 3pm. Found the coffee maker shop, that sells Bialetti and Alessi machines, only to discover it was closed because it was Sunday. Then home to recuperate and have a cuppa. One of the nicest bits about B&B's, apart from the people who run them, ...
