... harsh weather causes. Back to hotel, with a different cab driver! Walked a few blocks from the hotel to a small lake, Lake Hood. It's an aero.....something. A seaplane base. There are little gated yards all around the lake, and inside each yard is a seaplane, and a tiny shed - tools and storage I guess. There was also is a hotel on the lake there that is the Iditerod headquarters. Next, we catch a bus to Seward to board the cruise ...

I am leaving for Scotland in less than a week and am... not packed yet. After departing, I will travel for 3 whole days (hooray for layovers), and will finally arrive on Monday. I am trying to make the most of my time here and have been meeting up with old friends who I dearly missed. Anyways, just some random thoughts before I go:

I had bought the ticket to the Native Heritage Centre a couple of weeks ago, it is a must see I had been told. As it is situated a few miles out of the centre there is a free shuttle several times a day which departs from various points in the city to go to the Centre. ... they can travel at 30mph and have a calcified skull that can reach 9inches thick, it would hurt! Those musk ox are small with big personality.

We quickly moved on from these two awesome experience to hiking in Hatcher Pass and the Independence Mine. The road up to the mine from the parking lot was closed, but that was OK as we were planning on hiking anyways. The hike was steep in parts ...

Yesterday we took a plane ride over the mountains around Anchorage. Just amazing what you can see from the air. The plane was a 1978 Cessna 4 seater! Trip was about 1 hour. Saw lots of glaciers. And snow that you can't see from the ground. Trip was good till we tried to land. ...
