August 25th we will head to Valdez. We are told that we won't have internet...so it will be a few days before another blog. The caravan has another Cruise to the Columbia Glacier.
I am told it will be more inlet than open sea. I will not go again if the sea is rough with high waves. I will let you know.
I am leaving for Scotland in less than a week and am... not packed yet. After departing, I will travel for 3 whole days (hooray for layovers), and will finally arrive on Monday. I am trying to make the most of my time here and have been meeting up with old friends who I dearly missed. Anyways, just some random thoughts before I go:
1. I will miss everyone I care about soo much!

... them. The volunteers who were meant to be here to man the collection site were a no show. Although the Fair didn't open till 10am a massive queue had formed & people began bringing their donations to us as soon as we had set up. I was there mainly on my own for hours, which Eddie seemed to feel bad about but I wasn't bothered & was enjoying being part of the 'can run' for The Food Pantry.
Today was family day at the Fair & children under 12 got in free ...
... I wanted to fly from Anchorage or Fairbanks but the flights from Anchorage had gone up by about $250 so my decision was made. I had to figure out how I wanted to get to Fairbanks &, whilst googling, found an alternative bus company, Shleuter Services but there wasn't alot of info on their site & when I rang to leave a message the answerphone kept saying it couldn't hear me, Eddie offered me his phone & I had no problem leaving a message - very strange!! Jenny rang back ...
Yesterday we took a plane ride over the mountains around Anchorage. Just amazing what you can see from the air. The plane was a 1978 Cessna 4 seater! Trip was about 1 hour. Saw lots of glaciers. And snow that you can't see from the ground. Trip was good till we tried to land. ...
