... the sky has been a beautiful blue all day and there has been no wind. A perfect day in Fairbanks. I have forgotten to mention the temperature – that is fairly low. I have been back in the van since 4pm and have had the heater on in all that time and the van hardly warms up.

My city tour started at 8:30 but I had to be up at the office as soon as it opened to see if I could get on the tour. I put the alarm on for 7am and then got ready ...

The Last Day

... the airplane museum in the park. It gave the history of air travel in Alaska. There were a lot of old airplanes and parts of planes. If you are interested in airplanes and seeing details of airplane engines it is worth time.

After walking around we headed back to the hotel to catch the shuttle for the airport, but not before one last drink in the sun on the restaurant deck.

We say goodbye to Alaska. It was one wonderful trip.

Fairbanks to Denali

... sun. The road intertwined with the Nenana River. The river was really moving. About 10 miles from Denali, we stopped at the 49th State Brewing Company and had a great dinner. It was a very neat place. It had the replica bus used in the movie – Into the Wild.

We finished off the evening visiting with our Georgia friends. They are staying around Denali as we move ...

We are some of the lucky 30% to see the top of Denali. We came in on a rainy day and the next day it cleared up just enough for us to see the top of Denali. You have to be vigilant to be able to catch it too. It sneaks in and out of the clouds so when it is clear here you have to stop and get to a vantage point.
