First Day on the Alaska Highway
Another early day, up at 6:00 a.m. and on the road by 7:30a.m. It was a weird day for weather as it was about 10 degrees Celcius when we hit the road, but clear skies. Trecherous combination: Mountains and Flooding
Onward southward and eastward into the rocky mountains and into the torrential rain!!! We kept hearing reports on the radio of roads being closed due to flooding and landslides! Yikes!!! We found these road closures on the map and adjusted our travells several times. We made it through alright though and saw some beautiful views of mountains in the distance.

... It was a long day. There is a lot of gas exploration and drilling, with camps. equipment, and all that goes with that up here. Not many people live out of the towns.

North to Alaska!
... to somewhat tall, more rounded, but still rocky mountains;and then there were forested hills; and after that, it was pretty much flat for a while, with some rolling hills in the distance. There are certainly tall mountains in both Alaska and Northern Canada, but right now we're following a road that veers away from the Canadian Rockies for a while.
