From Grenada to St Martin

Hi everyone!, So far in 2009 we only updated our cruising blog when we were in Dominica. For those of you who have loads of time, we have now included an update with the highlight of our stops on route from Grenada to St Martin. Read the intro for starters; we put a 'star' next to the entries that make better reading, either for the tale they tell or for a curious observation we must detail. We apologise for having so few photos - we got really lazy! Doesn't mean that everyday ...

... our route around some of the islands beaches we took in Half Moon Bay which is, well you just run out of adjectives after a while, but it's a beautiful sight. The trip was rounded off by a swimming stop in Long Bay Beach, just beeeeaaaautiful. After a fairly long and bumpy journey to just jump into the beautiful azure blue seas of the Caribbean was just perfict, just pirfict man. All good things come to and end and all too soon we ...

Best of Antigua

Dear Blog,

Another day, another adventure. We arrived at Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda at 8:00am this morning. Today promises to be a beautiful warm and exciting day as the sun is already rising along the island and showing off its bright golden rays.

Antigua boasts one of the Caribbean's most spectacular coastlines with secluded coves and beaches. The capital is St. John's and approximately 70,000 people live on the island. The official ...

... There were also alot of cliffs and neat rock formations that reminded me of La Jolla (La Hoy-ah for the Spanish impared). I even got a little video clip of me jumping off of one of the little cliffs. Next week I plan to take some more new trips like Parasailing and snorkeling with turtles. I'll buy an underwater camera to document all the cool things I see, and I'll write another post about it late next week. But for now, I need to throw my tux on and get ready for showtime.

... explained that during the passage the boats on the ARC encountered one serious tropical storm and one hurricane. Despite forewarnings via the ARC communications net, Oystercatcher XXV did not divert as the others did and one night at 2:30 AM, moving without sails up, they were dismasted. The crew had to cut off all rigging including their huge in-boom furled main. Last Mike had heard the yacht had headed back to the Canaries for repairs. However, that morning both Al and Mike saw ...

... dinner at Melini's at the marina and Al had his first Wadadli (Antigua's local brew). We really like this one! Monday morning I was able to reach the doctor and get an 11:30 appointment the same day (just like the States!????!) We took the bus ($3.25 EC per person = about $1.30 US) into the capital of St. Johns. The bus station is conveniently located between the local fish market and the local produce market. We walked through town and amazingly located the doctor's ...

THE EXOTIC ISLAND OF SAINT JOHN

SAINT JOHN ISLAND

We are at St. John and it is 07.00 am. It is the most "Virgin" out of all the other Virgin Islands .

Our sailing ship stops in the Ocean, and another one comes to take us to the shore. We get in line and we step in the smaller one which carries us out.
