... happened to be a shack where you put money into an honesty box for the air. The man who ran it came out for a chat and said we should stay on a different part of the reserve. The area we were in was full of beautiful fresh water lakes so we ended up staying at a campsight on the lake for the night. We were going to stay in Newcastle for a day or two but decided to have a fly-by visit and head south to Sydney!
Taree, New South Wales, Australia koolbay73EN: After two very nice days in the Blue Mountains we were back on the road, we had to keep moving North towards Queensland. We headed back towards the coast through the very scenic road between Lithgow and Richmond, the most scenic route accross the Blue Mountains, some say. Just before Kurrajong we turned North again, towards the Hunter Valley, which is one of Australia's best known wine regions. ;-) When we got to Hunter Valley, we immediatelly realised we were in heaven ...
North Haven, New South Wales, Australia aguas... organise ourselves. Did a beautiful bush walk this morning and the weather is beautiful through the day, but still cold at night. Let's hope the further up we get (which we seem to be doing very slowly)the warmer it will get. We met a very interesting lady here who was travelling with her Wymarama? called Chilli(who was stone deaf)! She had a campervan and was just ...
LAURIETON, Australia madnomads... the van, tired but contented. Ignoring the noisy, chocolate fuelled american kids we tucked merrily into our sarnies and savoured the panoramic view, discussing the probability of a) getting up at 3 the next morning and b) surviving the ascent with only a headtorch each to guide us. In the end sense prevailed and we decided it was too dangerous to make the climb at night, and though disappointed not to be 2 of the 60,000 we were quite relieved aswell. 3am is very early...zzzzzzzzz
Mount Warning National Park, Australia jen_and_chris... beach. Definately one of the best trips we'd been on:) The rest of the day we spent checking into our new place, which was clean and tidy and quiet! Then just before sunset we headed off to the most easterly point of Australia and one of the oldest lighthouses on the island as well. We just missed the actual sun set by the time we got to the top but it was still brilliant. Highlight though was a slimely frog jumping on Jules' foot on the way back down. I've never seen her jump so high!
Byron Bay, Australia tom.steibelt... to do! we went to get our car checked (like an mot) to get a pink slip, cost us 50$ to prove its roadworthy, which we needed to buy more rego for it (like our tax discs). We transferred the car into our name also, which if we'd done within 2 weeks of getting the car it would have been cheaper! but heh you live and learn! and for the rest of the day we went to the internet cafe to look for cheap rego places to get our green slip they call it in New South ...
Sydney, Australia heliwalker... reason we didnt get to bed until 6.30am as we were up talking and realised the time! Travelling just allows you to do things you wouldnt whilst at home on any day of the week when your not working, just not good on a budget as always worrying about the money factor! Dunno how guys do it every single nite, they must spend so.... much money! The next day we all decided to have a BBq on xmas day (as you do in aus) so drove around looking for bbq stuff - to be ...
Melbourne, Australia heliwalkerAfter a pretty sleepless last night in Sydney we were up at 5.45am to catch the 7am bus to Port Macquarie and start our travels up the east coast. The journey was fine , the scenery absolutely class. We arrived in Port Macquarie and two seconds later we were off to the YHA hostel booked in and ready to go . As it was mid-afternoon and the Koala hospital does there feeding tour at 3pm we ...
Port Macquarie, Australia peteash... We walked around the area afer the cruise. Checked out some shops, the weekend markets and looked for a nice lunch. We decided to continue on with the bay hopping, next stop - Shoal Bay. It's got a nice and beautiful beach but there are lots of people. So after taking a few photos, we headed to the next one - Fingal Bay. This one is really very beautiful...just like paradise. We spent the rest of the afternoon here...just relaxing at the beach.
