From there we went to a place by the seaside that had its own sauna and stream. Nice property. The hosts did the BBQ for us while we did the rest.
Some had a sauna, one went for a swim in the stream and a couple went for a swim in the sea, far too cold for me.

The castle was close to the water and John saw a bridge that led to an interesting building on the opposite side of the river. We thought the walk over the river would warm us up a bit because it was in the sunshine... nope. ... and Riga still manages to retain that aesthetic appeal it is famous for.
Although the Old Town is nice, its outer suburbs are a big throwback to occupational Soviet times with red brick communist style housing and concrete Soviet factories scarring the landscape. This basic disregard for any flow and planning to beautify the area proves the half/half theory that I have been pushing. Basically in these areas, it is grim, grey and depressing.
... made our way back to the hostel. Here we rested our legs after almost 7hours of walking, did alot of organising, photo sorting and such. We did this until we got hungry again so we braved the cold and went out and got a huge pizza to share while chatting yet again about all our travel experiences.
