... or 4 cylinders at cruising speeds (so it’s a little friendlier to the environment). I know it’s a bit of a status thing, I know it’s somewhat wasteful, but you can’t be sensible all the time. Right?
Oh, and I’m sure you’re curious about gas… it costs just under a quarter (0.233) for a litre of regular and just over a quarter (0.267) for premium. I fill up with regular…. it’s the sensible choice.
... our fingers being bruised, hurting, and blood woundn't stop. Kids even did the 'act like I smearing my bloody finger on you' while using a different finger. We laughed about the whole process and Annette snapped a couple of pictures. Aftewords it was back down stairs and another 10 minutes to demand a receipt so I could expense these charges.
Doha, Qatar koobfamily... she bounced along like any barbie loving girly girl, probably proud of her little pink dress. Would he one day hope she covered it all up? Would she do it to please the father she affectionately held onto? And in contrast to these scenes of fully covered women and men were stores selling the snazziest Western clothing, and revealing Western clothing, you could think of. How funny it was to see a number of Muslim women dressed in full robes and ...
Doha, Qatar jimmyandkristenIt seems that my time in Doha has been spent chasing up Qatar Airways to retrieve my delayed bag. Delivery was finally confirmed last night at 23:30, but in damaged stae. I trekked out to the airport to confirm that my backpack was indeed mangled and no longer usable. At the very least I got my clothes back, less than 24 hours before flying on further to Thailand. I believe Qatar Airways staff now know my ...
Doha, Qatar killian... not a fan of skirts really as it is and the linen shirt I brought billows out to hide my shape and make me look preggo. Before John even gets up to the room I'm undressed and putting on jeans and a long sleeve shirt. I keep on the hijab and we head out to Corniche Street, the main drag that goes around Doha Bay, all around the city. We see tourists and locals, walking and playing, men are working and watching us walk by. I'm more comfortable ...
Doha, Qatar rinneaufreisen... there - and he simply said "Come with me." He seemed trustworthy, so I went with him. He brought me through immigration without having to wait like everybody else; then he brought me to a little office where it was possible to buy a ticket for a flight to Zanzibar leaving from the international terminal (where I was) rather than the domestic one (where I wasn't - and didn't really know how to get to). The ticket cost $80, which was $15 more than what it was supposed ...
Doha, Qatar bangkokrandy... and then water and then desert again and then flew over Dubai before landing in Doha. Being in first class gave me the privilege of riding in a a private air conditioned bus to the Premium Terminal Lounge . Here I was treated to an array of mediterranean snacks like rolled grape leaves; and more middle eastern sweets than a Lebanees bakery. The bar was quite impressive too - every flavor of Absolut that they make. If I would've had more time I would have had a soak in ...
Doha, Qatar mrcwoodsman... is expats (about 80% actually). Somethings i do notice is the abundance of wealth here. I have never in all my travels seen so many Lamborghinis, Bentleys, Hummers, Land Rovers, high end cars on the road. And driven by people who look so young. Women who are even wearing their robes have Prada, Coach, D & G shoes and purses sticking out. There are servants for everything. While we were out at a wonderful local restaurant we had one man just to ...
Doha, Qatar globe.trotter... The best thing about all of this is that I got to drink a couple beers! At Al Udeid, US personnel are allowed THREE drinks per night! I made sure I picked up my ration card and headed straight to the "bar". I even ran into some guys that worked for my company (didn't know them until that point), so I had some people to hang out with for a little while. On the way back up to Kandahar, we stopped in Bahrain for about an hour. The water ...
