The capital Manama is simple and smart and despite recent mega projects like Bahrain World Trade Centre (with twin 50-storey towers and partially sustained by three wind turbines) still easy to explore on foot. Got here yesterday, the flight in was only an hour and you got a really good view of all of Qatar from the air! [stupid wing blocked photo ops though]. No problems so far, immigration was a breeze, found the hotel OK and after relaxing some more [yes, we're lazy!] my mum and I hunted down a taxi to see the few sights in the built up north of the island

The Small Things in Life
... The security guard probably thought I was upset because the Embassy was closed. What he didn't realize is that it just took me one hour to find a building on an island that is only 253 square miles.
At the time, I didn't even realize that I had just spent one hour trying to find the U.S. Embassy. I simply wanted to celebrate the little thing I had just accomplished. Sometimes it is the small things in life that really do matter the most.
