Setting Sail

... The guys stayed in the café as Shirley and I went to the office. We had a bit of a wait because another group was checking in. We could see John and Don from the balcony of the office. They were enjoying a beer. We called down and had them order some for us. Our wait was a bit long so they finished the beer and promised to order more when we were on our way down. While we waited on the balcony taking in ...

Man, this is windy!!

... welcome did not last very long.

On our first full day we rented a small car and fully explored the island. It was a rather large island but for us it was not as impressive as others we had seen. We drove through the main town and found it full of tourists. We drove on to the Castro Town which is the island’s oldest settlement. The Castro is an ancient settlement perched on a high cliff, overlooking the sea. It has many great paths and tiny streets among its white cube ...

Discovering the beauty of Folegandros

... below the land/road level and we had to climb down a very, very steep slope in order to reach it.

I enjoyed the whole adventure so much but was a little disappointed when I saw so many people at the beach! Many of them had taken a boat to reach there, which is a much easier route. Nevertheless, we stayed on for a while to catch our breath before starting a more challenging ...

1st day in Folegandros

... Agios Nikolaos, situated north-west from Angali. It was quite a
long walk and the weather was extremely hot but our enthusiasm for having newly
arrived at the island made us very excited and adventurous!

Agios Nikolaos:

We enjoyed the walk to this beach from
Angali, despite the distance. There were many panoramic views because we were actually walking above sea level – we ...

Greek Islands July 17-26

... it got dark but were almost literally blown off our scooters on the way back. When we got back to the hotel it was basically sharing scooter wreck story central. A group of Italians were there and had rented 3 scooters...2 crashes...one scooter left for dead on the side of the road (we actually saw the scooter a few times during the day...and as the Italian said "It is no longer a scooter") So the Italians were all bandaged up from head to toe. One ...

Santorini

When you're in paradise you can easily forget about the rest of the world. The island of Santorini is one such paradise. It is a place that is on everyone's must see list. You see it on travel lists like 'top 100 places to visit before you die', etc which makes it a tourist hotspot. During the high season the crowds are like swarming locusts or termite infestations, but luckily I made it there at the end of the ...
