    It had been about midnight when we arrived at the hotel last night, so today was our first view of Dubai in the sun. We started exploring in the area around us, the old town. I say old town, this is comparatively speaking. The United Arab Emirates is a new country, not quite a new born country, but perhaps a toddler country.     Tha Supermarket (French Carrefours) was brilliant. It was packed. People do seem to have monotonous diet! I saw a fellow by 24 chickens and nothing else.

We had seen lots of people eating them but had not as yet had one ourselves. We chose a chocolate orange pudding with pistachio and almond dust on the top.
