From Africa to Oman

... restaurants were closed. In Stone town there is a mix of Indian and Arabic architecture, and some beautiful new and old carved doors and surrounds.

The old town is a jumble of narrow streets with coral stone buildings, and it was easy to get lost in the maze. Zanzibar used to be the centre of the slave trade for Eastern Africa, and natives were brought from as far away as the Congo. Only the fittest survived ...

Today was incredible. We started the day with a nice hotel breakfast (to our surprise) and off we went on a city tour of Dubai at 9AM. I had signed up with Manjit, a photographer who ran street photography courses, and we met up at a local market the following morning at 6.30am.

The market was chaotic, but fabulous with some much early morning activity with many areas of the gloomy market lit by bright ...

An epic 7.5 hour day at the white water theme park. The kids reckoned it was in the top three of all the things we've done on the whole trip. No photos unfortunately cuz Brooke and I were having fun too. Ozzie talked us all into going on the scariest ride. You stood enclosed in a big tube, they counted to three and a trap door opened under your feet. Top speed 80km/h down the tube. Was nuts. Oscar and Jasper went about 8 times and were famous with the ...
