... lies in the middle of a dry desert. In fact, Mecca is in a very isolated location. For several to travel to Mecca, they have to pass the Empty Quarter, which is essentially a sea of sand. Because of it’s climate, Mecca does not have much to rely on agriculturally so its livelihood is completely dependent on trade. Through if this many Muslims and merchants flock to Mecca every year, I believe that it is going to be a thriving city for centuries to come.
