Went into centre of Modena today. Surprised by relaxed atmosphere and old buildings. Part of of must visit cities of Northern Italy inspired by watching too many tv chefs. Think this was two fat grumpy Italian chiefs or similar title. Anyway been to bologna and Palma so thought it time to visit Modena. Never looks inspiring from autostrada in fact looks a real dump. Drove to Modena along autostrada. Huge numbers of huge trucks. Truck decides to overtake another truck going half a mile an hour slower than it. This then causes loads of macho men in small inadequate puntos to slow down and bunch up. ... Cyprus trees which are a lot bigger than I imagined. The trunks are about 40cm in diameter. We continued on to Radda in Chianti, which is a lovely town, again built on the hills with majestic panoramas. From here we we to to Montevarchi on roads that were very twisty and windy, the main industry seems to be timber milling as we saw quite a few logs piled up by the road.
