Day 55 - Annoying kids.

... br>3: A kid tried to steal my clothes which were drying on the back of my bike.
4: A kid tried to hit me in the head with a fishing rod as I cycled through a village.

Aside from that this is what happened:

We cycled along some rough roads though mostly small villages. Half of the air you intake is dust and its unbearably hot. This is not good when its highly offensive to drink water in the day. Many of the things you see and the situations you end up ...

Day 54 - Sheesha, Chi Tea, and Frustration

After being kept up most of the night by Abduls kids talking on the roof (essentially in our room) we went for a walk round the Medina (the crazy town centre/market place) in hope to get some breakfast, we soon realised just how cheap stuff could be. We managed to get 3 or 4 pizza type things for less than 50p!

The medina is a pretty stressful place because everyone is desperately trying to get money off you; whether they ...

Day 53 - Africa

... we might be here for a while. However, when I went to give them my unopened passport they just said: 'great britain? Is ok, come through'.

Everything is so different in Tanger. If you have to stop your bike for any reason then you are instantly surrounded by kids asking for money and food. Also, we happened to turn up during Ramadan and its offensive to eat food or even drink water in public during the sun light.

We started to cycle in ...

Plenty Time Shopping For Jester Shoes Mate

When i walked in here, the a guy in this internet room started spraying furry peach scented air freshener all over the room and into people's telephone booths while they are on the phone. We don't smell. I'm not sure if i wrote about this but a few days ago we were both covered in horrendous itchy bites that appeared overnight all over our bodies. We suspect that they came from little creatures, probably bed bugs or worse critters that were ...

A primeira boleia foi curta e rapida. Bem juntinho à costa num forgãozito tipo « Damas », o kota Larbi baixou-me 20 Km mais a frente na cidade que se segue à Tânger, Asilah. Atravessei-a voltando imediatamente a estrada nacional. Caminhei, caminhei, caminhei, fiz 7 km à pé. A estrada é lindissima, rodeada de montanhas e plantações de melões e melancias e outros verdes variados. Adorei a caminhada e adorei a maneira que terminou. Um rapaz numa das inumeras barracas de ...

Resting my nerves

... do anything for them after my offer to take a polaroid shot of one of the porters that helped me the most was met coldly. At this point I still wasn't sure if I would stop in Tangier for my first night on Moroccan soil, but as soon as I drove outside the ferry terminal, I was overwhelmed with a fiesta of chaos and general mediterranean fervour, - sort of the same you could find in an Italian town on the sea. Call me ...

... in the Muslim world, I am again continually hearing the terms "Inshallah". The word translates roughly as "God willing" or "By the will of God" and is used in conversation whenever there is some level of uncertainty about whether or how an event will occur. Examples of this are "The weather will be nice for your journey tomorrow, Inshallah"; "The bus will be there to pick you up at 8:00 in the morning, Inshallah"; and "I ...

For breakfast we find a cafe for some great cafe con leche and a moroccan "crepe" - flaky crepe-like thing spread with honey and rolled, then cut into bite sized pieces. a guy with a tray of sweets walked by and enticed us (mike) into buying a few... we pack up, taking our time and are on the road by 10 - early for us, but time-wise, morocco is 2 hours behind spain, so for us it's noon ...

Hotel Malaga - Larache

Today was my "Rest Day". It was a good opportunity to do some jobs I wouldn't get done on riding days, due to tiredness or lack of time. I got my photos developed, checked my email and wrote some postcards. I also read a newspaper. The only newspaper written in English, that I could find was the Saudi gazette. I found the different writing style quite interesting e.g. when saying such and such happened on ...
