Day in Paderborn

Although the weather was cold and rainy again, Claudia and I decided to walk around the center of Paderborn and do some shopping. I got a more complete tour of the city in the daytime - we went inside of the Cathedral and as usual it had amazing architecture. We walked down through the church and out the other side - more rain though so out came the umbrella once again. We walked through the city and ...

Home to Paderborn

We got up fairly early and had breakfast, then decided to head back to Paderborn. Claudia drove out of the city and then I drove for a couple of hours. We arrived in Paderborn around 15.00 or so, and went out to do some shopping for food. We swung by the Post Office to send out some postcards, then we hit the grocery store so I could buy some chocolates and things to bring home with me. The day ...

Finally Here

... we realized after we paid that we would have to drink ALL of the liquid - coffee, water, apple juice - prior to going through security. Yikes! So I hustled through security to get to a bathroom. . . Our plane was . . . you guessed it . . . late! So we waited more. We did finally get to Paderborn on a cold and rainy night around 21.00. Long day, but tomorrow it is fun with family, a German barbecue and some real German beer!!

conquering hills that feel like mountains!

... climbing hills! In Hilchbach I find my way to a Youth Hostel, no beds available, but no problem all I would like is a shower and a place to pitch my tent. Not done normally but the owner seems to like me, so all good. That evening is spend with a German couple and the owner and a bottle of fine wine, not bad after a day of hard work ;-))

Germany and Grandmas cooking

... It was really nice to meet the family, even though, I don't know or understand any German they were very hospitable! We spent two days in Koln or Colonge sightseeing. It was really nice town with a massive cathedral. It has some great views of they city from the top of the 502 stairs to the top of the spire. It was hard work to get to the top, but going down the spiral staircase was even more difficult because it made me so dizzy!
