September 2 Tuesday (Royal Princess) Warnemunde and Rostock (Germany) Awakening refreshed from a day of nothing, how relaxing - opened our curtain to a beautiful day and watched the passengers boarding their early train for the $350 day tour to Berlin, which was very obviously well patronised. With basic directions from our guide book, and some help along the way, we ended up in a small parking lot for a supermarket and an unmarked brown building.

This was the former headquarters for East Germany’s feared secret police, known as the Stassi, and now open to the public.

We entered a small lobby, walked through a set of prison bars, then up a flight of stairs.

... after a bit of train/line swapping we came to Acton East station. A relatively short walk of about 15 mins and we came to 10 Ashfield Rd. Lovely couple, Alex and Steffens, and a beautiful room. Spotless and modern (apparently recently renovated, along with the rest of the house. Down to the Goldsmith's Arms on Acton Lane for tea, a spot of shopping at Tesco's on Uxbridge Rd. Then back home to flick the TV around and in bed by 10pm. Haven't quite determined what to do tomorrow, ...

... we just headed inside to wait it out for a few minutes. Well after finishing our coffees and waiting as long as we could we raced across the street into a shopping mall to continue to escape what had turned into a torrential down pour.
