... Evans would have been proud of us!! The museum itself is a wonderful private collection of indoor and outdoor art including a Van Gogh exhibition which restored our confidence in this Dutch master. Great collection and well worth a couple of hours wandering about. After a light(ish) lunch in the gallery café we set forth on stage 2 of the road trip - the road to Kinderdijk (children's dyke for you non-Dutch speakers). By ...

We sneaked in and had a quick picnic out of sight of ...

Found the track again and headed east with a tail wind, so we made good progress through farmland and little villages. Lots of horses, large and small, also miniature pigs, llamas and alpacas. The alpacas had been shorn and they looked like big poodles. At Grashoek we found a pub just opening up ...

When in Cape town I’m staying with a guest family, I already have been in contact with them and they sound really enthusiastic, So I believe I will dive in deep in the South-African culture right from the beginning. My S-A "mother" : "Brace yourself girl, you are in for a heck of a ride, but.. a fun joyous and beautiful one!!!"

Right now it is still Summer in Cape-town, so I will be sunbathing next week definitely, and I ...

... war - Vermeer, Rembrandt, and others. Dutch sounds like an old German dialect. Very harsh - lots of phlegm! You should hear a Dutch pronounce Gouda - unrecognizable Holland is the tree that is is plentiful and the one they makes the shoes of. Anyway, we visited some wind mills this morning and have been through many locks. We've eaten some wonderful Dutch foods, thrown back some Junever. Tomorrow, we'll be in Cologne and will be welcomed by ...
