... 8km so I followed that road... and I swear I didnt make any turnings but - about 3km later, Ravenstein was 10km. In a fit of Pique I thought "Sod this I'm heading for s'-H!" It was about 24km and I could make it by maybe 630, looks like it was going to be another Hostel tonight.
After losing half an hour getting lost in Oss I eventually found the road to s'-H again (I swear they hide the bike routes down obscure turnings) But before I left Oss I decided that I wasn ...

wow....i cant wait to get the video up for this. Amazing stage, amazing sound, amazing crowed. I was actually pretty nervous. just walking back and forth on the stage and seeing all those eyes follow you is creepy.

... train. This run-around in turn caused us to miss that train as well. Eventually we did get on the Eurostar 2 hours late.
The Eurostar likewise crossed the country at an effortless 300 kph from Brussels to the English Channel.
Then again, we were delayed.
About an hour into the trip, the train slowed and eventually came to a halt. There were were, parked in a dark tunnel under the ocean floor. It was a little disconcerting. Eventually ...
... Maisonneuve Regiment buried here. This cemetery full of infantrymen is replete with names that are familiar and culturally diverse. It is like a cultural blueprint of Canada... at least Canada as it stood in 1944. Today's military is even more culturally diverse as I witnessed at the Vimy Ridge monument where every ethnic minority under the sun was represented in the Canadian Forces present there. What does that say about Canada? I am very proud to belong in a country ...
Oosterbeek, Gelderland, Netherlands vanruym.133... Adegem Cemetery and the Canada Museum, a privately funded museum dedicated to preserving the story of Canada's contribution to the freedom of the people of this area.
The Leopold Canal is a long, staight canal running more or less east-west, just south of the border between Belgium and Holland. It's location is strategic and there was intense fighting by the Canadians to cross over this divide during The Battle of The Scheldt in November of 1944. The ...
... Here in Doetinchem we are at a little higher elevation and inland, so water / flood control is not as much of a priority. Today, Sunday, we spent the day enjoying the beautiful warm weather (although, right now, I am sitting at our kitchen table and not taking advantage of the outdoors) and catching up on needed things. I am keeping busy at work and trying to work as hard as possible to finish my project since I just have about 2.5 weeks left of work! Hope everyone is well. Nate
Doetinchem, Netherlands natewybenga... that if I could catch that flight I would have a 40 minute layover to catch my connecting flight. That wasn't so bad. I took the tickets and went to the security gate. I hugged my dad and said goodbye, he waited until I got through security. I looked back and waved with a smile...but inside I was breaking to see my dad go. It was so hard to say goodbye to my mom and dad. My heart broke that morning saying goodbye to my mom. I cried, which really does not happen that often. I ...
Arnhem, Netherlands seawellk... came out of the hole once a year to be cleaned. Eww! And also pheww! I'm sure it smelt pretty aweful in the day...
One of the best things about Wednesday was that the weather was mild and beautiful, quite sunny, so a great day to go exploring. And the sunset was fantastic. I'll post some pics in a moment. So when I got back from Burg Linn, I made dinner, and prepared for my presentation Thursday morning.
Thursday arrived. I got to bed at 1 and didn't have as much sleep ...
... concern over these last two points to the client but were overruled! the whole project has stalled because of cost over-run. They are going through the painful process of 'value engineering' and are hoping to be on site by the end of the year. Its comforting to know that someone else also goes thru the same grief we do! I will be very interesting to see how this works when complete, both from the care principles adopted and from an architectural and urban design viewpoint.
