ANYWAYS....we learned about that weeks ago- and i remembered it because i wasn't clear on if hydrocephalus and the exposed spinal cord were related or if they just randomly happen to occur together and i had looked it up on google. then today i went in to the ward ...

I <3 Ghana

... NICE!! It was exhausting! I don’t know how these people do this allll day. They come up to you, shake your hand, ask you your name, talk to you and beg you to look at their store. A bunch of the SAS people bought drums. I was tempted because they are so cool and they can carve your name in them and stuff, but I had to remind myself that I would probably not spend much time drumming away once I got home. Later that night I went to a Welcome Reception that a college in Ghana ...

Arriving in Ghana

Hi everyone and welcome to my travel blog! I've been in Ghana now for 2 days, and have finally managed to locate an internet cafe near my house. Since this keyboard requires all my energy to use, I'll jump right into it: When I left Tassie, there was sleet and hail, and what must have been at least the 30th straight day of rain. Everything has gotten progressively hotter since then.... I stopped in Perth for a few hours on the way - 18 degrees - and met up with Nan for a slightly ...

SETTING FOOT IN GHANA

... during our stay, upon leaving the main entrance to the airport. We were basically swarmed with people trying to take our bags and calling to us in other languages. Our tour guide rushed us out of the airport and we got on a big van to take us to the University. Once we got here, we had dinner at the guest house (rice, plantains, and chicken) and went to bed really early- we were all exhausted.

Lots of stuff!

... and that IF I do get involved with anyone, it’ll take a loooooong time (meaning at LEAST a year) for them to prove to me that they don’t just want a green card. Besides, I already have Greg in Los Angeles, so unless I find someone who totally sweeps me off my feet, why bother? We’ll see. I’m not promising anything to anyone. What is meant to be will be. I’m not going to try to steer anything in any one direction. I’m just going to let things happen.

Health Care in Ghana

... our prescriptions. Try getting that treatment at a hospital in Melbourne when you have a stomach infection!!!!! Really, I have been massively impressed with the medical system in Ghana...it has been efficient, low cost, caring, easy to navigate. The staff have all been extremely pleasant, caring, attentive and helpful, the doctors and nurses are well trained, the facilities themselves w**e of q v**y high standard, and hopefully the results of all this will show in thge next day or ...

Accra Mall

... despite so few people having cars! As we were still feeling sick, we took refuge in the Accra Mall, a western style shopping mall. The type of place I hate in Europe, but I'm afraid to say it felt really nice to be in an air conditionned place where we could browse the shops without having anyone coming to talk to you constantly to sell you something!! So we caught up with a couple of films ...
