... Ricken Pass with a wonderful panoramic view of the Alps to reach Toggenburg with it's rolling green landscape. We then travelled on to Vaduz, the capital of the Principality of Liechtenstein and the 3rd smallest principality in all of Europe, smallest being Monaco then San Marino. We had 30 mins here so not much time to see anything really. From afar, we saw the royal families castle high up on the cliffs edge. Onwards, we travelled to Maienfeld through thick alpine ...

... All these churches are so beautifully ornate with gold and other expensive pieces of art.

We stopped at about our usual time for a beer (al fresco), and I picked up a great little friend. It was a sweet little female dog that couldn't wait for a belly rub from me. She was with a group of people at the pub who had been there since 3:00 when we first arrived. I'd say they were all on their way to great ...

We then stopped at the little village of Appenzell. We went to the church, but there really wasn't much to see here. So we got back to the car and drove to town of Rankweil. Our hotel tonight is right on the highway so we'll see how sleep goes. The room however is very ...

A Grumpy Old Man....and some great scenery

A travel blog entry by rolandandlinda on Aug 24, 2014

    Sunday 24 August

Had a wee barny with the Pension owner when we tried to pay
the bill tis monring. He said we had used 20kW or power and wanted to charge us 14 euro
extra, on top of of the 28 euro site fee. In the end, as he locked the power
cabinet with our lead inside, we had no option to pay (or call the police). As
we thought the site fee included everything, we may have been a little generous with
    our heating, and probably ...

    The Klostertal Valley

... is on the high side (with
    setting at 3 bars).

Stayed locally and explored the Klostertal valley, up to
the Arlberg tunnel. Visited the Sonnenkopf chairlift to review prices but
decided to defer a trip to the top until tomorrow - the weather promises to be
better and we should have a full day to walk at high ...
