    ... progressed.

Our accommodation was quite close to the start of the hike to the crater of Stromboli. We thus had brilliant views of the volcano and enjoyed endless views of the ash and smoke pouring out of the top. We could even clearly hear the rumblings. After a very restful nights sleep we decide to squeeze our way out of the marina and move to anchor on Volcano Island so we can get an early start tomorrow at 4am to Palamero. It's an easy 10 minute walk to Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the main street- a lovely pedestrian zone, and only a couple of minutes further to both port areas and the citadel and museum. Anoeta had left us with some of her home made goodies too, and more things have appeared early in the morning. Little sugar drenched doughnuts (like our New Year 'olly-bollies') had appeared magically on the table when I went out on ...

... can say they did! Then off to see the piazza di spagna and Spanish steps (also a little underwhelming due to the hundreds of street peddlers - they even started arguing with each other as they both offered me a rose at the same time and the church at the top of the steps was covered in scaffolding and canvas adverts!) we did see another wedding while we were there. We caught a taxi back and then fell into ...
