Just before landıng, I could see the cıty was bunched up agaınst the mountaın sıde down to the beaches. It remınded me of pıctures Ive seen of Rıo de Janeıro wıth the way how the buıldıngs look. ... decide to take another road but we have first to get more west. The landscape is beautiful with all the mountains and small villages it resembled very much to the Swiss Valais.
As we fill up gas we ask about the alternative road we want to take and we get a bad response, that not everything is asphalted (not a problem) but there is still lots of snow (a big problem) and the people suggest to take the main road. (more than 100km more)

Found a lovely hotel perched on the cliff-tops overlooking the Black Sea and started to relax with a beer or two in the gardens.
Still no sign of Tim.
Had a fabulous night of eating and drinking to be greeted with a huge bar bill in the morning - over $250! Gulp!
Ah well,at least we had the hangovers to prove the bill must have been right...

... the port ships, a couple Natasha brothels, and tea stalls. People were dressed warmly for the weather, some with Muslim veils or prayer beads, others with the latest fashions. Everywhere along the streets was the Turkish flag, letting you know that you were in the land of the red flag with the crescent moon and star, symbols of the Ottoman Empire when they conqered Constantinople and named it Istanbul, forever reshaping the lands around the the Seven Seas. Welcome to Turkey!
Trabzon, Turkey lraleigh... I was doýng, I stood up on the pedals and wýth a burst of speed, I caught up and grabbed onto the very back. It was lýke an ýnvýte, maybe ýt was. It was pretty hard work pullýng wýth one hand and controllýng the býke wýth the other, tryýng to avoýd my left front pannýer gettýng caught up on the steel fender. (mum, ýts ok!) Half way up my left hand got too týred of holdýng on and the road was gettýng pretty rough on the sýde. I had to let go. Luckýly the truck drýver behýnd saw ...
Trabzon, Turkey goldenbez... to Nunu's cousin's house (who wasn't home but the rest of the family was) and had tea and cake. When his cousin got home we sat for another hour at least. By the time we made it home it was past 11pm and my headache was at a code red. It was so bad that I couldn't sleep. How rotten!! And then we had to wake up really early in order to catch our early plane to Istanbul...but that didn't bother me...I couldn't WAIT to get there.
Trabzon, Turkey abilazer... family for Iftar dinner. We sat and ate. Then the guys disappeared and the women were left in the living room... me with a lot of older Turkish women and a few babies. I was bored out of my mind. And my opinion is, even if I DID understand the language, I probably still would have been bored since the conversation would be something I'm not interested in. So I decided to take a walk outside, which, I'm guessing that is something I'm not supposed to do either ...
Trabzon, Turkey abilazer... I shall miss those late night bonus meals you provided me as I lay in bed. May you rest in peace. Anyways, we're in Trabzon to use as a base for visiting the Sumela Monestary. There's not a great deal to see in Trabzon to be honest but it's really quite an enchanting place. It's our first real taste of Eastern Turkey and we were both impressed. We found a great little cinema showing relatively recent English ...
Trabzon, Turkey natandkat... The Otel Oral. I hear the room service is a mouthful.... Not to be outdone, just around the corner here in the sleazy part of town, is the Otel Ufuk. But here in Trabzon I have discovered the ultimate in stoopid names for a product.... It is a popular brand Men's underwear. The brand name - "Cock". They pull no punches. I doubt that the 'Small' sizes sell too well. After a day of semi-normality, I returned to full tourist mode by taking a minibus 46km out of ...
