We visited the ancient city of Philippi which was our first site with ruins in Greece. Saint Paul visited here during his ministry in 49 or 50 A.D. and was put in jail here for a time. Within the city we visited different excavations, including the Forum, the Philippian jail and the Egnatian Way. We saw one archaeological site there that has tombs and beautiful mosaic flooring overtop of the dig site. On one portion of the mosaic flooring Paul's name is written in ancient Greek, ...

... beginning of the piece, our pitch dropped almost immediately, and this gave a different sounding character to the passages. Our overall expression was good, but it was difficult to hear the sopranos in many sections.

It was fascinating to see an example of church history being linked to Phillipi, even if the connection isn't explicitly verified. Singing at the baptistry of St. Lydia gave meaning to the connection of site to the New Testament.

... Nena told us that we had a group of yund adults that wanted to meet us from the concert and show us around Kavala. So before dinner we meet with a group, of mostly girls, and chatted and hung out before dinner. It was great to be able to compare lives and get to know new people. Many of the other member of the choir got the chance to go out with them, however I stayed in to go to bed early. I knew the next day would be kinda busy so I went to bed to enjoy a good nights ...
