... only a dead end, but a gravel road resembling a moonscape with craters as big as bathtubs, and more massive trucks than I have ever seen in one place charging up and down. We eventually discovered we had been heading for a steel mill and container port, which explained the truck derby. By the time we got back David had a rotten headache from his cold and driving stress, so we had a huge fish lunch on the water front at a place run by a Turkish guy back from Switzerland to ...

A couple of days before I got there, Zeki found a bird with a bad wing in the road and decided to take care of it. The vet in Çeşme told Zeki that the bird's wing wasn't broken and would heal itself in a few weeks, I don't know where this vet trained, but the bird's wing was so obviously broken it ...

    ... structures are an architectural
marvel, narrow constructions of gray stone with flat wooden roofs, low doors,
tiny arched windows and wooden terraces. Quite a climb up steep, slippery, rough paths. It was empty, like a ghost town, except for a coffee shop and a few of the house with signs of being lived in. Apparently people are beginning to buy these small houses as summer homes. Scenery is beautiful but it is way away from civilization. Lots of peace and quiet!
