We managed to get out the door and away reasonably early for the trip to Pergamon today and when we got there it was pretty much deserted (about 10am). We opted for the very flash funicular instead of climbing up 300m, which w as a good idea as it was already hot. After my exams finished I went to Çeşme to be with Zeki for a few days before we went on to Akyaka together. A couple of days before I got there, Zeki found a bird with a bad wing in the road and decided to take care of it. The vet in Çeşme told Zeki that the bird's wing wasn't broken and would heal itself in a few weeks, I don't know where this vet trained, but the bird's wing was so obviously broken it ...

After our short visit to the monastery we drive across the island to the Ghost town of Anavantos. It is a national monument in honor of the Chians who lost their lives in 1822. Built into a hillside 450 meters above the
sea, the exterior walls of many of its 400 houses are part of its perimeter
